Streetstyle from Underrated Fashion Cities
Now that New York Fashion Week (NYFW) is in full swing, you’re about to get bombarded by runway and streetstyle pictures from the world’s most stylish people as fashion month continues. But before all this goes down, I’m here to bring you your daily dose of inspiration from fashion’s most underrated fashion cities that have already seen their Fashion Weeks come and go.
After browsing hundreds of images to highlight my favourites, I learned that comfort is king (re: sneakers, oversized silhouettes, and low-heels), prints and colour-blocking are the new black, statement outerwear is non-negotiable, winter is drab but neutrals are not, bucket hats are (somehow?) still cool, and I really really really want a Saks Potts coat. Don’t believe me? Just see for yourself:
MADRID, SPAIN
Blessed with sunshine and warm weather, Madrid's Fashion Week allows for lighter outerwear and an eclectic combination of winter and spring trends. What are the Spanish loving? Power suits, leather trenches (I'm obsessed), and sneakers.
STOCKHOLM, SWEDEN
So I think we all know by now that Swedes are all (seemingly) effortlessly cool. They proved that once again and did so in winter conditions. Cool as ice. Spotted in Stockholm were loads of pastels (Easter anyone?), statement coats, and clashing prints.
COPENHAGEN, DENMARK
There's definitely something distinctive about Danish design, and their sense of style is no different. While understated, it speaks volumes without being overdone. Copenhagen was a city of contrast with Fashion Week go-er opting for head-to-toe neutrals or colours, or a tasteful mix of both.
BERLIN, GERMANY
Last but not least, Berlin showed the fashion world that its style should not be overlooked. The most inspired by streetwear, Germany was still feeling logo-mania, bucket hats, and full-on neutrals.
