Maria or Daisy? Playing up the style that works for you.

As many who follow reality TV know, this year's season of The Bachelor has taken the public by storm. Not only has Joey been an absolute treat on our screens each week, but the women are so authentically themselves. This season, in particular, has had two standout women who have influenced social media and viewer opinions the most. This being our sweet ‘Girl Next Door’ Daisy Kent and “Miss Vixen” Maria Georgas. As an avid reality TV watcher, I noticed these two women have some kind of IT factor that goes beyond the screen. I truly wondered, “Besides their stunning personalities, what makes these girls so captivating to watch?”

I bring the answer to you today: These two women know themselves, their personalities, and their colour palettes so well. They managed to play to their own strengths all season, causing your eyes to follow them around the screen whenever they were showcased. Daisy would accentuate her golden retriever energy and bubbly personality through her outfits, whereas Maria exuded a classy confidence that she was able to play up all throughout the season.

At the beginning of the season, we were introduced to the girls on night one as they stepped out of the limo and met Joey. This entrance not only introduces the woman to Joey but it also shows the audience who they are working with. On The Bachelor, a dress is worth a thousand words. Maria stepped out strong in a vintage Ema Savahl couture gown. Unlike most of the women who chose the “prom dress-esque '' look for their step out, Maria chose a black, tight, backless dress. Seeing that Maria has dark features, very slick angular hair, and bone structure, she chose a dress that was going to complement her already dark and Vixen-like characteristics. By choosing this dress, she was beginning her time on the show as one to look out for, stating through her dress that she was not conforming to the typical bachelor fashion.

Daisy, on the other hand, leans toward the typical bachelor image; she is a sweet girl from a small town in Minnesota who lives on a Christmas tree farm. Her personality is showcased throughout the show as giggly, bubbly, naive, and kind. She managed to portray this through her night one dress by choosing an Alyce Paris pink sequin gown. Through this dress choice, Daisy created a soft narrative for herself, showing a kind of childlike wonder that would lead her through the experience.

Both Daisy and Maria stuck around long enough to have 1-on-1 dates with Bachelor Joey, and their outfits could not have been any different. Daisy’s date was first, and she was shown during the day portion of the date wearing a pink Barbie tiered dress from Princess Polly. Daisy tends to wear outfits with soft lines and usually leans toward the sweetheart neckline, which compliments her soft features, big eyes, and curled blonde hair. Daisy has done a phenomenal job of knowing her colour palette and playing around with what works for her, which helps her to come to life on screen.

On Marias' 1-on-1, she began the date in a tight black long-sleeve shirt and straight-leg, low-rise jeans. Maria’s outfits tend to fit into a ‘model off duty’ look, which is also seen through her bouncy blowout hair and layers. While most girls on The Bachelor stick to sequins and tight curls, Maria zigs when they zag, and she pulls outfits out of the archives to shock the audience.

Both women have captured Bachelor Nation's attention and hearts through their personalities and individualized style. If you can take one tip from Maria or Daisy, it's to learn what works for you and embrace it wholeheartedly. These girls define the phrase ‘Polar Opposites,’ yet Joey and their audience loved both of them just the same. They stayed genuine to their own styles and leaned into who they were. Whether you’re a Maria or a Daisy, the importance lies within being you.
